Edens Zero Chapter 146 Review/Recap

It goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyway: Shura is an absolute monster right now. He may end up changing for the better in the future of Edens Zero, but right now, he’s an absolute monster. He treats his followers like garbage, plans to commit machine genocide, and has decided to do everything in his power to break Shiki. This week, things for Shiki go from bad to worse, as Shura ups the ante. And threatens the lives of the Shining Stars in the process.

In the mirror world, the battle between Homura and Milani comes to the inevitable conclusion: Homura uses her fox-inspired Overdrive to waste Milani. However, in the process, she learns something surprising: Milani was lying about how she thought Machines had no hearts earlier. She was devastated by Shura killing Cyca. She was just too scared of Shura to do anything.

Back at the crater, Jinn finds Shiki none the worse for wear. It’s revealed that, as their comrade was about to self-destruct, the other Machines decided to save Shiki by throwing themselves onto him. As a result, they saved his life, but sacrificed themselves in the process, leaving Shiki heartbroken. To make matters worse, Jinn warns him that Shura went to the Edens Zero. And when they get there…well, you should see it for yourself.

Review

Sweet mercy, Shura is an absolute sadist. I will be blunt: when I saw what he did to Hermit and Sister, I could’ve sworn my face had gone pale. The brutality! The violence! I’m honestly surprised that we didn’t see pools of oil or something that would substitute blood on the ground. I’m really hoping that the ship can repair Sister’s leg and Hermit’s eye.

There’s not that much that I can say about this chapter besides the fact that it shows just how far Shura’s willing to go. He’s a sadistic, possibly sociopathic tyrant in the making, and Shiki needs to take him down. FAST!

I Give “Before We Part” a 3.6/5. Utterly Brutal
