The End of Steven Universe Future
We all knew that this day was coming, people. After seven years of fun, music, and intense emotional growth, Steven Universe is ending its run on Cartoon Network. I cannot overstate the importance of this show. It’s one of the best cartoons ever made and serves as an icon for the LGBT+ community. I stand by my previous statement about the movie: it should be made into a Broadway Musical. However, if this recent interview with Rebecca Sugar is any indication, we will be seeing more of Steven Universe in the future. It’s the kind of franchise that’s just too good to be left idle.
Enough about that, though! We’re hear to talk about the trailer for the last ten episodes of Steven Universe Future.
Steven’s Anger Issues Worsen
When we last left Steven Universe, his emotional state was becoming progressively worse. Now that everyone else seems to have grown and no longer needs his help, he’s lost and confused. Combine that with his lingering issues regarding his mother, and he’s an emotional wreck. As we see in this trailer, he’s starting to further retreat from his loved ones, which is only making things worse!
So far, Steven Universe Future has been what happens when a hero who’s focused on saving others for so long, he doesn’t know what else to do. My guess, is that he’s going to learn what may be his hardest lesson of all: how to accept help from others.
A Brighter Future

Despite how bad things may seem, I am confident that Steven will be able to overcome them. In a way, he’s actually the last person on the show that needs help, and the one who needs it the most. For all the growing we’ve seen him do, he’s still dealing with the legacy of his mom and trying to figure out his place in the world. When this show started, Steven was just a boy, and here he is on the verge of adulthood. The end of the show will not be the end of Steven Universe.
As for me, I’m only sorry I didn’t start the show at the beginning like so many others did. I missed out on a heck of ride, but I’m glad I got to see the tail end. And I plan on reviewing it to the end!
A Little Surprise
I got a little surprise in the pipeline for Steven Universe, by the way. Expect it by the time the next episode of Steven Universe Future comes out.

Gentle Criminal Forms a Plan
My Hero Academia Season 4, Episode 19 Review/Recap
A school for heroes is still a school, and in Japan, schools have festivals. With the U.A. Festival in a month, Class 1-A decides to put on a concert to make up for all the trouble they’ve brought. However, a small-time villain by the name of Gentle Criminal’s trying to attract attention for himself, and U.A. is a tempting target.
Recap

Having decided on a concert, Jiro leads the efforts to organize the class and figure out who’s going to do what. Slowly but surely, everyone’s talents begin to show. Bakugo earns himself the position of drummer for his mad skills. Yaoyorozu will play the keys. Kaminari and Tokoyami are on guitar. As for lead singer, Jiro shows everyone that she has the voice of an angel.
Meanwhile, Gentle Criminal and La Brava become frustrated at the lack of attention that their videos are getting. As a result, Gentle decides that in this day and age, people only care about big spectacles. And no spectacle would be as big as one that involves the school everyone’s talking about: U.A. High.
Review
To be perfectly honest, this episode was pretty boring. Just more of the slice of life stuff that we’ve seen for the last few episodes. I knew that it was going to be hard to top the Hassakai Arc, but the manga source material is not making it easy. However, there’s still a reason why this arc remains important: Eri.
As the last episode showed us, even though Overhaul can’t hurt her anymore, she still has a grip on her mind. She can’t even remember how to smile. This school festival is the best chance that Midoriya and Togata have to set her free. Especially now that she’s able to come to U.A.

I hate seeing a little girl like Eri so scared; we all do. Yet Gentle Criminal is planning to crash the festival which will ruin everything. In other words, we’re bound to get more action, and soon. Hopefully, it will be worth the wait. Go beyond, PLUS ULTRA!
I Give “Prepping for School Festival is the Funnest Part” a 3/5. Needs more Shonen Stuff

RIP Oden Kozuki
One Piece Chapter 972 Review/Recap
I rarely ever come across situations where I have no words to start off a blog post. However, after reading this chapter of One Piece, I have no words. Oden’s story comes to an incredible ending.
Recap

As Oden’s execution drags on, Shinobu’s revelations slowly begin to disperse throughout the crowd of onlookers. As a result, people begin to spread the word to all of Wano via arrow, while the crowd begins to ask for Orochi to halt the execution. In response, he just starts killing onlookers. Realizing that he will not make it out alive, Oden chooses to tell everyone the truth about Wano. That the Kozuki’s closed off their land to protect it from a great power. Twenty years from now, a great war will begin, and a person who’s traveled through time will need Wano’s help. Thus, he commands the Scabbards to open Wano’s borders no matter what.

Despite the overwhelming pain of the boiling oil, Oden survives for an hour. However, Orochi reneges on his promise and decides to just kill Oden firing squad. With the last of his strength, he throws the Scabbards to safety and tells them to make for Kuri, where Toki plans to send them into the future, along with his swords. As a sign of respect to the only man who injured him, Kaido ends Oden’s life with a single bullet to the head.
Review
Wow, just wow. I knew that this execution would end in Oden’s death and the escape of the Scabbards. Even so, I couldn’t help but be shocked at how things turned out, or the foresight that Oden seemed to have. He knew that if he couldn’t save Wano, then the ones who save would come in twenty years. Knowing how Oda operates, Oden somehow knew that the Straw Hats would be the ones to take down Kaido.
So, long story short, the execution ended how I predicted, but that doesn’t make it any less hard to watch. Oden was a fun character, and I’m going to miss him. Now, though, it’s time for the manga to return to the present day. Orochi may think he’s one, but I know that the Straw Hats will find a way to win.
The next chapter will likely be the last of this long flashback, so we should get back to the present day by March. Hopefully, the next chapter will show us Toki’s powers in action, as well what happened to Denjiro, because we don’t know where he is. The Straw Hat’s greatest battle yet is about to begin, and I am so pumped for it! #RIPODEN
I Give ” I am Oden, And I Was Born to Boil” A 3.8/5
By the way, that old lady who had the Clone-Clone Fruit? Kaido killed her.

Tassji S, U R Awesome
Hey, everyone, J here to try something new. Over the last few months, I’ve gotten invested in the fan art community on Tumblr and Instagram. I’ve even started paying commission’s for artwork done by several artists. So to build off of what I did for KPRS4EVER a while back, I decided to make an entire series acknowledging all the great people I know in fandom communities. For today’s post, I wanted to give a big thank you to a talented artist by the name of Tassji S.
Hailing from down under in the country of Australia, Tassji S is known primarily for one thing: genderbends. They make genderbent drawings of various cartoon characters, though they primarily stick to Disney properties. While Tassji S has started to branch out to other shows like The Owl House, their main focus has been on Star vs. The Forces of Evil. Though in their case, it’s Comet vs. The Forces of Evil.
Several things make Tassji S stand out amongst the fanart community. Firstly, they’ve managed to copy the art styles of the shows they draw very accurately. If you were to compare one of his drawings next to a slide from the show, you might not be able to tell the difference if it wasn’t genderbent. Secondly, they develop backstories for all the genderbent characters they make that mirrors their history in the show. That takes a level of dedication. Finally, Tassji’s part of this unofficial group of artists that go by the name of “THE WARRIORS OF TERROR!” It’s a bunch of fan artists on Instagram and Tumblr that work together and collaborate to make amazing fan art.
Thanks for the Art, Tassji S
About a week ago, I saw that Tassji S had spots open for commissions, and since I loved their artwork, I jumped at the chance. There was only one thing that I wanted to them to do, mainly because I’m surprised no one else asked them to do it before. Remember their Comet vs. the Forces of Evil series? I asked them to do one of Comet and Marcia’s (Star and Marco’s counterparts) wedding. The whole thing costed about $75 AUD, but as you can see from above, the results were worth it!
I found Tassji S to be very professional during the whole experience, listening to my feedback and what I wanted them to do. In addition, they were fast; like super fast. They had the entire thing finished, completed, and delivered to me within the span of a few hours. I cannot be any happier with what I got, and it was well worth the price! Their Instagram followers seem to think it’s one of his best works to date, too!
If you’re looking for someone to do incredible artwork that’s worth what you’re paying for, you should try out Tassji S. Here’s some links where you can find them:
Monster House, now With Chicken Legs
The Owl House Episode 6 Review
After taking a break last week for Valentine’s Day, The Owl House is back and ready for more supernatural hi-jinks. So far, the show’s done a great job of establishing its lore and character backstories: the Emperor’s Coven, Eda’s curse, and the show’s take on magic. However, I think that is the episode that begins to really connect everything together. And it does all that while making me think of the film Monster House.
Weirdest Sleepover Since the Truth Box Incident
After being the focus of episode 4 and touched upon in the last episode, Eda’s curse becomes a plot point once more. It was hinted that it would become a recurring problem, but this episode has it happening sooner than we thought. Out of elixir, Eda and King head out one night to get more. Unfortunately, Luz gets talked by Willow and Gus into having a sleepover where they use the power of the moon to animate something. Instead of animating an action figure, though, they do something cooler. They give the Owl House legs and the ability to move around!

This was an absolutely amazing thing to look at. Mostly because the background art during the whole experience was pure eye-candy. So, despite Luz’s better judgement, Gus and Willow talk her into taking their monster house for a joyride. Mainly because Amity’s throwing her own sleepover with her yes-girls and they want to rub it in since they weren’t invited. And despite what I said last episode, Amity’s showing no signs of stopping her bullying of Luz. #humanscanbiteit. Harsh, but we shouldn’t judge Amity so soon.
Broken Friendships

The events of “Covention” implied that, due to her natural talent and the praise she gets, Amity’s very insecure about her self-worth. This episode pretty much confirms that, as we learn that she and Willow were once friends. Once she got her magic, though, and Willow didn’t, Amity let people’s praise and adulation go to her head. As a result, she became what we know her as today. She’s successful and popular, but she knows that people only like her for her talent.
Meanwhile, Willow still seems to be upset over how her friendship with Amity ended up, hence her low self-esteem and desire to one up her. That ends up putting everyone in danger when the Owl House gets captured by monster hunters. Fortunately, the gang works together to escape and get their Monster House back home. The whole experience makes Willow realize she doesn’t need to prove anything to Amity.
Meanwhile, Eda learns her own lesson about not letting her obsessions over something get in the way of what’s important. She finds the elixir, but the seller won’t give it to her, so she challenges him to a game of “Hexas Hold’em”. She loses, and King gets taken from her. Fortunately, she realizes the error of her ways, and the two get away with the potion thanks to the Owl House passing by. It’s a fun experience, overall.
#Whoaretheseguys?
On the one hand, Eda’s mad they took the Owl House for a joyride, so she makes them clean up the living room. On the other hand, she’s beyond impressed at the fact that they were able to animate the entire house. That kind of thing should have been well beyond the talent of people their age. For emphasis, we see that Amity’s posse couldn’t bring a doll to life in their own conjuring.
The way the episode frames it, it seems to be implying that Luz was responsible for how things turned out. As a result, we get the impression that, despite not being able to naturally perform magic, Luz may be more powerful than anyone knows.

What could this potentially mean for the show in the long-term? Could there be a reason by Luz’s hidden talent for magic? How could something like that affect the Boiling Isles. It’s too early to tell, but people are already taking notice. The last scene of the episode shows that Luz, Willow and Gus’ escapades were the talk of Bonesborough. I’m betting that Amity will either gain more respect for Luz, or just go crazy with jealousy. Either way, Luz is going to start shaking things up soon, and I can’t wait.
I Give “Hooty’s Moving Hassle” a 3.9/5
Stray Observations
- I looked it up, and the moving house thing’s a reference to the house used by Baba Yaga, the witch of Eastern European myths
- The title’s a reference to the anime film “Howl’s Moving Castle”. I love how anime is now mainstream
- The Boiling Isles has social media, like Penstagram.
- Another cameo by the Eye Monster and LMD.
