Round 1 Goes to the Dark Stars

Edens Zero Chapter 193 Review/Recap

Well, that didn’t turn out the way that I expected. As the fight for the fate of the Kaede Cosmos, and the rest of the universe, continues, I thought that the Crew of Edens would overcome the Dark Stars. However, I was being too optimistic, thinking that this was going to turn out like Fairy Tail. Edens Zero is about throwing us curveballs, though. And in this case, the Dark Stars threw us several curveballs.

Recap

Having seen what looks like his Mom in suspended animation, Weisz gets thrown completely off guard. This gives Killer the chance to gain the upper hand. Threatening to kill her, Killer then unloads his weapons into Weisz, who proceeds to collapse as he remembers his Mother. Then, Clown comes in, having beaten Rebecca, Pino, and Happy. The Dark Stars have won this round.

Elsewhere, though, Shiki manages to escape confinement, while Homura remains on the ropes against Brigandine, who boasts how his mission in life is to best Valkyrie’s heir. In the skies above Lendard, the Edens Zero and Holy continue to battle against Deadend Crow, with little success. In the hanger, Labilia tries to find a fighter so she can help Rebecca, only to be horrified when she runs into Clown and Killer!

Review

Round 1 goes to the Dark Stars, I suppose. For now, at least. If Homura can come out on top, then that would make this a tie between the two groups.

As far as the story goes, I don’t like the idea of Mashima shoehorning in Weisz’s mother. The fact that the Dark Stars somehow got her from Norma seems very unlikely, even if Killer says she’s the real deal. It seems too convenient, in my opinion. And a bit forced. Fortuntately, the fact that Shiki’s free means that there’s still a chance to prevent what happened during the first attempt at Belial Gor.

As the chapter ends, I’m more than a little concerned as to why Killer and Clown are aboard the Edens Zero. Whatever they want, it’s bad news for everyone, especially Labilia. Here’s hoping that Hermit and Sister can handle their counterparts.
