Round 1 Goes to the Dark Stars
Edens Zero Chapter 193 Review/Recap
Well, that didn’t turn out the way that I expected. As the fight for the fate of the Kaede Cosmos, and the rest of the universe, continues, I thought that the Crew of Edens would overcome the Dark Stars. However, I was being too optimistic, thinking that this was going to turn out like Fairy Tail. Edens Zero is about throwing us curveballs, though. And in this case, the Dark Stars threw us several curveballs.

Recap

Having seen what looks like his Mom in suspended animation, Weisz gets thrown completely off guard. This gives Killer the chance to gain the upper hand. Threatening to kill her, Killer then unloads his weapons into Weisz, who proceeds to collapse as he remembers his Mother. Then, Clown comes in, having beaten Rebecca, Pino, and Happy. The Dark Stars have won this round.

Elsewhere, though, Shiki manages to escape confinement, while Homura remains on the ropes against Brigandine, who boasts how his mission in life is to best Valkyrie’s heir. In the skies above Lendard, the Edens Zero and Holy continue to battle against Deadend Crow, with little success. In the hanger, Labilia tries to find a fighter so she can help Rebecca, only to be horrified when she runs into Clown and Killer!

Review
Round 1 goes to the Dark Stars, I suppose. For now, at least. If Homura can come out on top, then that would make this a tie between the two groups.

As far as the story goes, I don’t like the idea of Mashima shoehorning in Weisz’s mother. The fact that the Dark Stars somehow got her from Norma seems very unlikely, even if Killer says she’s the real deal. It seems too convenient, in my opinion. And a bit forced. Fortuntately, the fact that Shiki’s free means that there’s still a chance to prevent what happened during the first attempt at Belial Gor.
As the chapter ends, I’m more than a little concerned as to why Killer and Clown are aboard the Edens Zero. Whatever they want, it’s bad news for everyone, especially Labilia. Here’s hoping that Hermit and Sister can handle their counterparts.

Weisz Faces a Sadistic Fight Against Killer
Edens Zero Chapter 192 Review/Recap
For the record, I think we all knew that when the last chapter ended with Weisz seeing his dead mom, it was an obvious trap. Like, unbelievably obvious. Was Killer hoping that Weisz would let his guard down? Because it didn’t really work. At least, not at first.

Recap

Even though he knows it’s fake, Weisz gets shaken up by the sight of the Mom he thought to be dead. However, he keeps his head on straight enough that he can call Killer out on it, and how he says that Human emotions make him weak. The two continue their battle, but with Killer in control of the dimension, he robs Weisz of any chance to use his Ether Gear to mod his surroundings. Fortunately, Weisz switches to his Arsenal armor to give him the upper hand once more.

The two continue to battle and remain evenly matched. When Killer gets rid of the Arsenal armor, Weisz retaliates by activating his Overdrive, putting Killer on the backfoot. However, Killer has one last card to play: a healing pod, with what looks like Weisz’s mother inside, and he plans on smashing it to spit Weisz!
Review
Okay, what are you doing, Mashima? You expect us to believe that Weisz’s mom was brought back to life by scientists who decided to study her after she died in the hopes of understanding what killed her? And that somehow, Killer got a hold of her ? I’m sorry, but even I find that hard to believe. That would mean that they had to travel to Norma, which is trapped in the past, and then escape. It’s possible, but even I think that’s unlikely.

The problem, though, is that Weisz can’t afford to take that risk. Killer knows how to emotionally manipulate him to win, and that’s what makes him so dangerous. Beyond that, though, this wasn’t a very interesting chapter for me. If it turns out that Weisz’s mother is somehow alive, then I’ll be impressed. Until then, not so much. I did like Weisz’s Overdrive, though.

“Zombie Nurses.” So Dumb, it Works
Edens Zero Chapter 191 Recap/Review
I’m sorry that it took so long for me to write this, but I’ve been very busy for the past week. Edens Zero wound up being on the lower priorities list as a result. Now that I’ve finally gotten the chance to sit down and read it, it was worth it. Two words: zombie nurses. A concept so dumb that it works in the end.

Recap

In the circus dimension, Happy and Pino are horrified that Rebecca’s been turned to gas, with Clown revealing he sent her to a world of nightmares. As for Shiki, he’s sent back to the arena where Homura and Brigandine are. His Ether Gear draws in more memories, this time of Brigandine and Valkyrie. Before anyone can make sense of this, Killer teleports Shiki to his dimension…in chains. Killer has no intention of fighting Shiki. He just wants him out of the way while he deals with Weisz.

As for Weisz has his own set of problems when he gets attacked by a horde of zombie nurses. Gratuitously sexy zombie nurses, which bothers Weisz to no end. Weisz manages to evade them and escape to another part of the hospital, but he can’t shake the feeling that he’s been there before. It soon becomes apparent why: this was the hospital where his Mom stayed before she died.

Review
Like I said, the zombie nurses thing is so dumb that it works. However, not by that much, though. At least Weisz understands that the concept is gratuitous.

On more important matters, this chapter added another riddle regarding the Shining Stars and the Dark Stars. If the memories Shiki’s seen are true, then they once knew each other. Were they once humans that Ziggy turned into machines for some reason? I have my own theories, but I don’t want to share them just yet.
For now, it looks like the focus will be on Weisz as he’s being messed with by Killer’s illusion. Using the memory of his Mom is a pretty low blow. Hopefully, he’s smart enough to not fall for it. Other than that, this chapter wasn’t that big or memorable.
