My Hero Academia S7 Ep 10 Review

We are now in the second half of what may be My Hero Academia’s final season, and the final war continues to heat up. Despite the heroes best efforts to stop All for One, the Demon King won’t go down so quickly. He’s like that one boss in a video game that takes everything the players have to win! However, he shouldn’t write them off as “side characters” or ants meant to be crushed under his boots. Ants are robust and dangerous, and in enough numbers, they can take down an animal as big as an elephant.

No, seriously. Enough ants can bring down an animal that most predators avoid messing with. All for One shouldn’t underestimate people just because they’re side characters.

I love the new opening, by the way.

Don’t Underestimate the Supporting Cast

So, despite managing to maim Jiro and Hawks and trying to break Endeavor emotionally, do any of the heroes try to run from All for One? No, they don’t. Despite losing one of her earphone jacks, Jiro refuses to run away scared. Instead, she remembers the absolute hell AFO has put Deku and Aoyama through…and she gets angry and hits the villain with everything she’s got. Then, Hawks, Tsukoyomi, and Endeavor start to do the same. And surprisingly, it works! They smash his mask off!

It’s less of a case of them taking a level in badassery, though, and more of a sign that something’s wrong with All for One. Which there is. Inside his mind, All for One is surprised to find that the Quirks he stole from others have begun to fight against him.

I enjoyed this scene the most out of the entire episode. It shows how, after almost a century of getting his way and hurting countless people, All for One is starting to lose control. And the fact that he’s starting to lose thanks to the efforts of those he considers “side characters” and ants makes it all the sweeter.

As satisfying as it is to see All for One’s stolen Quirks turning on him, though, it’s still far from over. He’s already got another ace up his sleeve. And, having read the manga, I know it’s dangerous.

Shigaraki is Getting Stronger Every Second!

Of course, the other big highlight of the episode is the ongoing fight in the Sky Coffin against Shigaraki. Despite being vastly outgunned by Shigaraki, the heroes present are doing everything they can to make sure he can’t win. Bakugo and the pro heroes are fighting like crazy. Kaminari and the electric heroes are pouring everything into ensuring the structure stays on. Yaoyorozu and the support item department are working around the clock to keep it up and running. The entire thing shows us how this fight isn’t going to be decided by just one person. To beat All for One and Shigaraki, countless people work as one. That’s their big strength. Hence, anyone who considers them ants should be more of a compliment than an insult.

The fight’s far from over, and I wonder if they can fit all of it into the season. That being said, I’m still looking forward to seeing it through. With the manga due to end in less than a month, this makes the anime all the more meaningful! Go beyond, PLUS ULTRA!!!

One Piece Chapter 1121 Recap/Review

You know one of the things I love the most about One Piece? That moment at an arc’s climax when Luffy proceeds to beat the ever-loving tar out of the big bad. And out of all the enemies Luffy has faced, I don’t think any have been as deserving of a beatdown as that of Saturn. I was ready to make peace with the fact that Luffy, Bonney, the Straw Hats, and everyone else would have to flee Egghead. The Five Elders undamaged, save for their pride and the knowledge that Vegapunk just exposed them to the world. But wouldn’t you know it? After all the pain and suffering we learned Saturn caused, Oda wouldn’t let him get away with it. LO AND BEHOLD, THE FALSE GOD HAS BEEN JUDGED AND FOUND WANTING! AND THE CALL FOR THE FINAL WAR HAS BEEN SOUNDED!

Recap

The final moments of Dr. Vegapunk’s message to the world continue to play out, even as the Elders desperately try to destroy Emeth and the transponder snail. Vegapunk tells the world that one day, very soon, the secrets of the Void Century will be uncovered for all the world to know. Those that history tried to erase from existence, and their descendants persecuted, will have their voices heard again. There are already people out there who cannot be oppressed no matter what, and those people are closest to finding whatever Roger found. In the recording, Vegapunk muses that maybe that was what Roger intended to happen with his last words. However, he also notes that the person who finds the truth may be someone Joyboy wanted. That doesn’t change this fact, though: whoever finds the One Piece will decide the fate of the world.

At the island’s edge, Saturn furiously tries to kill everyone, but Luffy and the Giants aren’t having any of it. With Luffy protecting her from harm and encouraging her, Bonney gets a second wind and re-enters her Nika Form. Remembering everything that Saturn has done, the pain he’s caused to her, her parents, and so many other people, Bonney calls Saturn for what he really is: trash. For her mother, her father, and herself, Bonney and Luffy hit Saturn with EVERYTHING THEY HAVE!!!! A BEATDOWN LIFETIMES IN THE MAKING!

And, in the end, the so-called god is left crumbling to pieces as Saturn begins to fall into the sea while the Thousand Sunny makes its descent to the ocean below.

Review

This was my honest-to-goodness reaction when I saw what Luffy and Bonney did to Saturn:

I’ve waited for so long, and when Oda finally gave it to us, I felt euphoric! At the moment, Saturn is probably the most vile, disgusting, and hated character in all of One Piece, and that’s saying something. From going out of his way to make Kuma’s life hell, to killing the love of his life, experimenting on Bonney, and be an all-around jerk, Saturn has had this coming. I don’t know how Luffy and Bonney were able to damage him so badly, but I don’t care. Nor do I care if he survives. All I’m hoping for is that he will fall into the ocean and remain there for the rest of eternity. That moment alone makes waiting another two weeks worth it!

Beyond that, though, no matter what happens from here on out, the Five Elders have lost. Vegapunk has told the whole world everything he knows and how it’s all connected. Joyboy, the Void Century, the Ancient Weapons, the lost continents, and at the heart of it all, the One Piece. And now, everyone is going to want to go after it. Even the Marines, the ones supposed to be fighting pirates, will want to find the One Piece. If the Celestial Dragons had a hard time controlling the world before, then it’s about to become impossible!

I Can’t Wait to see the Chaos to Come

We still don’t know if this is the end of the Egghead Island Arc just yet, but I’m willing to guess that we’re going to get a few more chapters to wrap everything up. We need to learn the fates of everyone involved in the arc, especially Vegapunk himself. And we need to see how the world will react thanks to everything they’ve learned. However, I would like to point out that many longtime readers already came to the same conclusion Vegapunk did about Roger. He set everything in motion because he knew that someone would find the One Piece one day and do what he and Joyboy could not: bring down the World Government.

I really liked the chapter, not just for seeing Saturn get what he deserves, but for the allusions that it makes. When Oda speaks about those oppressed by history, we get shots of people like Kuma, Pudding, and King. All of them were persecuted for existing, and I think they still have a role to play in what comes next. Well, that depends on where King is, at least.

Oda, keep cooking for us! And may Saturn rot in hell forever.

One Piece Chapter 1120 Review/Recap

When Vegapunk asked the Straw Hats to escort him off Egghead Island, I dont think any of us expected it to get like this. First, Shaka was murdered. Then York was revealed to be a traitor willing to work for the Celestial Dragons. And now, Vegapunk himself might be dead, and almost all his Satellites along with him! The only ones left are Lilith, Atlas, and York, and after this chapter, another one is gone. To save everyone, Atlas just made the ultimate sacrifice!

Recap

26 years ago, on Punk Hazard, Professor Clover confronts Dr. Vegapunk’s, begging him to aid him in researching the Void Century. However, Vegapunk refuses to help him, saying the only reason Clover’s alive is so he can lure out his colleagues so the World Government can eliminate them. In response, Clover reveals his real name…is Claiohh D. Clover. When he was a kid, the World Government killed his big brother in front of him, and Clover lied to save himself. He can’t accept a world where having the wrong name could get him killed.

Vegapunk decides to forget what he just heard and tells Clover to do the same, but Clover says that, one day, the voices of the past will call for him and he won’t be able to ignore it.

Four years later, Vegapunk learns of the genocide of Ohara and Clover’s death, horrifying him.

In the present day, Vegapunk echoes Clover’s words, saying how the history of the vanquished can endure in the hearts of the oppressed. Now Vegapunk is bringing that truth to light, the same truth that the Roger Pirates discovered for themselves. He also shocks the world by revealing Gold Roger’s true name of Gol D. Roger.

Emeth and Atlas’ Sacrifices

Elsewhere, Emeth speaks to Luffy and says how happy he is to fight for him once more, calling him Joy Boy. He doesn’t know what Emeth’s talking about, but he takes the chance to escape to the Giant Pirates’ ship, though no one else heard the voice. Unfortunately, 900 years of wear and tear have broken down Emeth’s weapons, letting the Elders take a chunk of him! But he still has a backup plan.

Elsewhere, the Sunny is ready to make the jump to the sea. However, with Nusjuro still after them, if he tries to attack even once, the Sunny will miss the jump. That’s when Atlas knows what to do. She knocks out Lilith and then shuts off some kind of device that connects her to Punk Records. Then, Atlas charges right at Nusjuro and while the Sunny launches, she self-destructs, much to everyone’s sadness!

Review

And then there were two. We still dont know if Dr Vegapunk is truly dead or if he can pull through, but does that matter at this point? Most of the Satellites are dead or presumably dead. The traitor responsible for all this looks set to join the World Government and give them control of Punk Records. Now the only good Satellite left standing is Lilith. Ironic, considering how she’s the “evil” aspect of Vegapunk. However, even if the Straw Hats can only save Lilith, that will still be a victory.

That, and Lilith is my favorite of the Satellites. I like her personality a lot, so I dont want to see her die!

Even if this is it for Vegapunk, though, he’s already won against the Five Elders. Like Clover wanted years ago, Vegapunk chose not to ignore the past and ensured the whole world would know the truth. The Void Century, the conspiracy of the World Government, and surpringsly, Roger’s true name. Even if he didn’t expose the truth about Ohara, I think plenty of people will be able to connect the dots and realize the truth. The Five Elders have lost thanks to the Will of D.

The Will of D Continues to Amaze Me

Speaking of which, I was surprised to learn that Clover was a bearer of the D. That does explain why he was so willing to defy the World Government, though. Besides Garp (to an extent), everyone with the Will of D seems to defy the World Government. And, knowing Oda, Joy Boy was likely a bearer of the Will of D.

Speaking of which, its nice to see Emeth acknowledge Luffy as the new Joy Boy. However, I’m hoping that someone explains what that is to him, if only for the readers sake. I doubt he’ll care about something like that.

Atlas, Your Sacrifice Will not Be in Vain

As for Atlas, I am so sad about her sacrifice. Atlas might have been Vegapunk’s anger, but she was one of the friendliest of the Satellites. She gave Luffy and the others food and clothes, and tried to stand up to Rob Lucci. Atlas sacrificing herself is going to be tough pill to swallow, but the Straw Hats can’t afford to fight any longer. If they don’t escape Egghead Island now, the sacrifice Atlas made will be for naught.

I know I’ve been saying it for awhile, but it feels like the Egghead Island Arc is nearing its end. The next few chapters will show us how the Straw Hats and their allies escape. After that, we’ll probably get a few chapters showing the aftermath and fallout of the incident. And I hope that this marks the beginning of the end for the World Government. They need to go down!
