e most exciting, save for the first and the last. However, those who keep up with the manga know that this season’s merely meant to build up to something big. As the fifth season of the anime ends, we prepare for the biggest arc in the series to date: the Paranormal Liberation War.
Time after time, Edens Zero has proven to be the darkest work of Hiro Mashima to date. We’ve seen the heroes be put through immense mental torture, suffer great loss, and in one timeline, we saw Shiki die! Well, that trend is about to, unfortunately, continue. This week, Mashima may have just sent several more named characters to their deaths.

So, last week, Hiro Mashima gave us one of the biggest examples of Stockholm Syndrome I’ve ever seen in my life. Laguna learned that his former comrade, Princess, got captured by Shura and horribly tortured. As a result of that, she developed severe Stockholm Syndrome and started serving the nutjob willingly. A nutjob who, by the way, just tortured Witch to near-death to piss off Shiki.
The life of a superhero can be a hard one. Superheroes can save a lot of lives and become respected and renowned the world over, but it can also destroy their chance at happiness. An all-too tragic example was All Might’s mentor, Nana Shimura. She left her son in foster care to protect him from All for One, only for her grandson to become Tomura Shigaraki. Even decisions with good intentions can lead to tragic consequences. Now, we get to witness first-hand the tragic origins of Tenko Shimura, the future Shigaraki.
Ever since I first learned that Momonosuke’s artificial Devil Fruit was made using Kaido’s DNA, I knew that boy would play a role in defeating him. However, I didn’t know how he would do so. After all, he was still a kid! But then he had Shinobu age him up, and he became as big as Kaido! But will this newfound growth be enough to help beat the man who killed his father? I have seen a lot of toxic relationships in the annals of fiction. Rick and Morty’s a twisted version of Doc and Marty. The Joker and Harley Quinn fills me with nothing but pity and revulsion. Name a Sith master and apprentice in Star Wars, and I’ll be 99.5% sure it’s bad. But this? What Mashima has created? This relationship is like the idea of Stockholm Syndrome and the feeling of pity had a baby!!!
azy. It’s actually Twice. I don’t know why, but I love Twice. His backstory and all the problems that he faces are just so sad that you can’t help but want to hug the guy. He’s not evil; he’s just been forced into villainy due to the world being out to get him. And that’s what makes this episode one of my favorite of the season. This week, we got to see Twice unleash his full power.
Wano, we’ve been getting more and more hints that Zoro has some sort of connection with the country. Then, last chapter revealed that he has a lot in common with the last Daimyo of Ringo, Ushimaru. This, chapter, though, makes the connection even more relevant when we get a look at the former Daimyo of Wano as Yamato’s past comes to light.
I have been waiting all season for My Hero Academia to get to this point in the anime: the Meta Liberation Arc, AKA My Villain Academia. While the heroes have spent the entire season training to get stronger, the League of Villains has been trying to stay afloat. Now, they’ve been called out to the revival party of the Meta Liberation Army. And as this episode proves, this revival party is going to be absolutely glorious!!
me, I’ve seen it become one of the high points of One Piece. From the larger-than-life story of Oden Kozuki and his epic end to the ongoing war against the Yonko, this arc has succeeded all my expectations. However, with the arc nearing its climax, it’s time for a few more surprises. Sanji and Zoro push their power beyond their previous limits, while Momo makes a choice that would make his Dad cry from sadness and pride. Kaido doesn’t stand a chance now.
