Sword Art Online: Alicization- War of Underworld-Badass

The Priestess of Light

As the war in Underworld progresses, Alice learns of her importance to the Dark Territory and her title as the Priestess of Light.

War for Underworld Begins

It took us six episodes to get to this point, but at last, the War for Underworld has begun. I waited for this moment since reading about it in the web novels. I wanted it to be what made SAO a good isekai again. However, this first episode felt like a repeat of the Battle of Ice and Fire from Game of Thrones. The difference is that this time we can see what’s going on.

Night Before the Final Battle

I’ve noticed a recurring theme among stories that feature a climatic final battle between two opposing forces. Right before the big fight, there’s always a moment where the cast calms down and prepares themselves for what’s about to happen. Star Wars had their moment with Luke and Leia in Jedi; and Game of Thrones had a whole episode before the White Walkers attacked. Now SAO: Alicization goes through its own calm before the storm as the final battle for Underworld is about to begin.

Sword Art Online: Alicization-War of Underworld-Vector's Desire

Gabriel Miller, Gaming Sociopath

Sword Art Online has given us its fair share of villains over the years. While at are great hat sinks (*cough* Sugou and Quinella *cough*), I wouldn’t put them on a list of great anime villains. However, the exception to that has to be the big bad for War of Underworld, Gabriel Miller. I said that he’s a sociopath in my last post. However, it’s not until this episode that shows us how much of a gaming sociopath he is.

Pacing Problems in Latest Alicization Episode

So, in the latest episode of Sword Art Online: Alicization- War of Underworld, we get stuck with more exposition and no action. Good things come to those who wait.

Sword Art Online: Alicization- War of Underworld-Alice is Back

The Return of Alice the Knight

After a quiet prologue to show us what’s happened to Underworld, SAO begins to ramp up once more. The war between the Humans and the Dark Territory’s on the horizon, and the latter’s already make the opening salvos. Rulid Village is under attack by the Dark Territory, and the only one who can stop them is Alice? Although, can Alice regain her warrior spirit, though, and what’s happening in the real world?

Sword Art Online: Alicization- War of Underworld

War of Underworld Begins

Back when SAO: Alicization ended the dub of its first half on Toonami, I promised that I would continue reviewing the show when part two came out. Now I intend to keep that promise, and I’m not waiting for the dub. #Swordartonline

The Second Worst Arc in SAO

I came into this season having high hopes that this would be what would recapture the spark that launched SAO to international fame/infamy. After all, it’s the most extended story that Reki Kawahara wrote for SAO, covering almost ten light novels altogether. Then it turned into a dungeon crawl halfway through. With part one over, I want to review Sword Art Online: Alicization.

Sword Art Online Alicziation

End of Disc One of Alicization

We’re at the mid-season finale of SAO: Alicization, and this will be my last review/recap until the show resumes in October; not waiting for the dub. Now, let’s get this mid-game boss fight started. Kirito vs. Quinella!

Sword Art Online: Alicization- War of Underworld

Cardinal Dies At the End

Having been drawn out of hiding to save Kirito and Alice, Cardinal comes face to face with her nemesis, Quinella.

Sword Art Online: Alicization

One-Shot Letdown

Instead of an epic boss fight against Chudelkin, we get a Hercule Satan one-shot.

Eugeo Screws Up

I stand by my assertion about the time it will take for Kirito to kick Eugeo’s butt.

Synthesis Is Evil

In this episode, we get a look at how the Synthesis Ritual’s done, plus what happened to Alice before she was turned into an Integrity Knight.

Eugeo Was Seduced By Quinella and Her Evil

We’ve seen how far the so-called “Pontifex” Quinella is willing to go to maintain her power. She created the Taboo Index to shackle the humans of Underworld to her oppressive rules. It’s only in this episode of SAO: Alicization that we see the depths of her wickedness. At this point, she’s number two on my list of most hated women in anime. Guess who’s number one.

How Does Kirito Make Girls Fall for Him?

Someday, I want to learn the secret on how Kirito is able to make so many girls fall for him. After this episode, Alice might end being next on the list.

Starting to Get Repetitive

I was too busy dealing with the fact that Game of Thrones and Star vs. were over that I forgot to write my review for the last episode of SAO: Alicization.
