For an AI, Void is Super Dumb
Edens Zero Chapter 266 Review/Recap
Ever since we learned the truth about the Edens One, I’ve asked myself: why is it so evil? Why does it want to kill Mother and end all life? As it turns out, the motives to its xenocidal goal’s aren’t that original. It’s basically following the same rationale as Ultron in Age of Ultron.
Does Void not know that it’s dooming machines to die, too?

Recap

Shiki, Rebecca, Happy and Pino are shocked at the sight of Mother in the distance, but they don’t let that distract them. Void’s standing between them and Mother, and Shiki’s determined to get by him.

The battle between Demon King’s begins. As both combatants trade blows, Shiki demands to know why Void’s doing this. The machine’s answer is simple: humans are a violent, foolish people that destroys themselves and everything around them. When the AI of the Edens One came to that conclusion, it turned itself into Void to destroy Mother, ending all life in favor of machines.

Sadly, Shiki’s still no match for Void. Even his Overdrive fails to give him the upper hand. Right as he’s about to meet his end, though, someone unexpected comes into to save him: Ziggy, the Demon King!

…Wait, what?
Recap
You know, for the vessel of an AI that’s supposedly beyond man or machine, Void isn’t as smart as it appears to be. It only wants to kill Mother to eliminate organic life like humans and aliens from the universe. However, it’s plan is fatally flawed. While killing Mother will lead to humans and other organic lifeforms to go extinct, eventually, machines will die, as well. The whole reason Ziggy went back into the past was to save Mother and prevent this from happening.
If a supposedly smart, self-aware AI can’t account for this possibility, then maybe it’s not as smart as it thinks it is. It certainly isn’t the will of the universe like it claims to be. I’m sorry, but Void’s an idiot who will destroy the universe.
That aside, the supposed return of Ziggy is something I wasn’t expecting. We were all led to believe that Ziggy remained offline in Universe Zero, yet he’s somehow back. The real question is whether or not this is the Ziggy from the flashbacks or the Shiki that becomes Ziggy. Or if they’re still the same person.
This chapter was relatively short with nothing too major to talk about beyond Ziggy returning. I’m just hoping that whatever explanation Mashima has up his sleeve, it better be good.
