One Piece Chapter 1105 Review/Recap
As of today, it would be accurate to describe the events of the Egghead Incident as Ohara 2.0. After failing to kill Bonney or capture Luffy, thanks to the arrival of a still-alive Kuma, Saturn lost all patience. Desperate to keep Vegapunk, Kuma, Bonney, and the Straw Hats from escaping, he ordered a Buster Call on Egghead Island. Now the fleet of 100 Navy ships is about to level the island of the future until nothing’s left. All the while, Saturn’s calling their attempted defiance the height of stupidity or the pinnacle of folly. However, given how Saturn’s dealing with Luffy and the Straw Hats, it’s clear who’s the true idiot here: him.

Recap
Having ordered the Buster Call on Egghead, the Marines scramble to get off the island. The only ones who stay behind are Saturn and Kizaru.

Vegapunk pleads with the Admiral and Elder not to do this, citing the technology that the world could benefit from. Saturn, though, doesn’t care. Then, to twist the knife further, he reveals that he’s sent a ship after the one carrying the Egghead Island workers, saying the Doctor dug their graves by breaking the taboo.

Meanwhile, Sanji leads the other Bonney, Kuma, and the others to the rocket up to the lab before returning to get Vegapunk. Above, Nami’s group is trying to devise a plan while Brook and Lilith improvise getting Sunny to the escape point using Brook’s ice powers to freeze the solid clouds…except they don’t know how to slow down.
None of it matters, though, as the Buster Call begins. Vegapunk watches as the island he created is reduced to fire and rubble by the Buster Call and the Pacifistas. As for Bonney and the others, Kizaru stops their escape with his powers. Seeing an opportunity, Saturn orders the Pacifistas to open fire on them, to Sanji’s anger and Vegapunk’s horror, while a group of Marines finds a bloated Luffy.

As Saturn muses on Bonney and Kuma’s fate, calling their defiance the pinnacle of folly, something else is going on. The ship he sent to sink the Egghead Researchers has been destroyed. All the survivors can do is report that “they” are headed to Egghead Island.
Review
In an arc that has seen things go from light-hearted to absolutely insane, this chapter is pushing things to a fever pitch. However, despite how desperate things seem to be, I’m not worried. It may appear dreadful, but this chapter makes me laugh a little.

The destruction of Egghead Island will be a massive blow to the entire world due to the loss of Vegapunk’s inventions, but it’s not as bad as it could be. As long as Vegapunk and the Satellites escape, they can start over somewhere else.
We didn’t see Luffy outside of a single panel, but even surrounded by Marines, he’s not in danger. The fact that he’s stuffed from eating food is a sign that he’ll be up and running soon.
Plus, despite being targeted by the Pacifistas, there’s little doubt that at least Bonney and the Straw Hats will survive.
As for why I’m laughing at what’s happening, it’s because the title of the chapter is misleading. At first glance, it looks like it’s referring to Saturn’s thoughts as he thinks he’s about to be rid of Bonney and Kuma. However, I don’t see their actions as folly, and I doubt anyone reading does. The true folly, the true pinnacle of stupidity, is Saturn himself.
Folly, Thy Name Shall Soon Be Saturn
As I said in my last episode review, Saturn doesn’t get it. He’s such a control freak that when things don’t go his way, or people keep defying him, he doubles down on his attempts to control things. But as One Piece has shown, controlling is almost impossible when Luffy and the Straw Hats get involved in something. Instead of adapting in some way or cutting his losses, Saturn thinks he has to come down harder. He and the Five Elders cannot understand why their methods aren’t working. That’s why he’s going to lose before this arc is over. Luffy will likely be ready to fight again soon, that old, giant robot is still waiting to appear, and now someone, or something, else is headed to Egghead Island.
In short, Saturn’s the true idiot.
Who’s Coming to Egghead Island?
Right now, plenty of fans are debating about who could be coming to Egghead Island. Before I give my own theory, I’ve seen three of the big ones.
The first is the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. It’s possible, and seeing them fight off a Buster Call would be amazing. However, they likely can’t make it in time.
The second is that it’s the Revolutionary Army, coming to help Vegapunk and Kuma. Though they are as powerful as they are, they must be faster to catch up to Kuma in time.
The third idea is the Blackbeard Pirates. Given how they were seen off the coast of Egghead Island, they could intervene if they wanted. And they could want it, given the knowledge and technology of Vegapunk and the staff.
However, I don’t think it’s any of them. My theory is that the ones headed to Egghead Island are another group: the Giants. Think about it:
- They’re affiliated with Vegapunk, having let him read the research they saved from Ohara
- It’s implied they know a great deal about the Void Century and JoyBoy.
- Many of them have a vested interest in opposing the World Government.
- Elbaf is the next destination in the Straw Hat’s journey.
Given all the evidence, it seems like it’s the Giants who are headed for Egghead Island to save Vegapunk and stop the Buster Call. And seeing a group of them take on a hundred Navy Battleships would be awesome. Or, it could be someone or something else entirely. In the end, though, it may not matter in the story’s immediate context because it will likely still have the same result: Saturn will lose. And I’m looking forward to seeing that happen.

The GIANTS? You know, I never would have thought of that. Though that kind of “Out Of The Box” thinking has got me thinking: BIG MOM PIRATES. They were teased to have done something prior to leaving Wano. It could be them- and maybe even accompanied by the Beast Pirates, here to aid Kaido in aiding Joyboy. Luffy did the unthinkable defeating him, so maybe he’s here to bet on Luffy and help him escape! Man………….. until Oda says SPECIFICALLY who is on the way, it could really be any group in the world with a vested interest in the Straw hat’s and Vegapunk escaping. I LOVE when stories just start getting “Chaotic-” so maybe groups clashing all in one location never fails to be impressive!
According to the spoilers, I’m right.
You keep up with the spoilers, too? Neat! And yeah; I saw that too- amongst other things. Some CRAZY STUFF happening right now, huh?
