One Piece Chapter 1191 Review/Recap

Okay, this is getting annoying. Ever since Imu decided to deal with what’s happening in Elbaph himself, people are saying that Luffy needs to run. They think he can’t beat the King of the World the way he is right now. And they’re probably right! Luffy isn’t on Imu’s level yet. However, I would like to remind everyone that if Luffy runs, Imu will enslave Elbaph. Whoever has Elbaph’s loyalty can decide the fate of the world, or even if it survives the coming war! Luffy can’t run, and neither will Loki. They may not be able to fight Imu alone, but maybe they could together.

Recap

As Luffy and Gaban catch their breath for a moment, Luffy asks the question: who are they even fighting. Gaban doesn’t know the whole details, but the best word he can come up with for Imu is God.

Down in the Underworld, Imu is sitting in the impact crater he made, his Haki knocking out all the animals present, and thinks about how Gaban was part of the Roger Pirates. He’s annoyed that he didn’t kill Roger and his crew at God Valley, since they’ve managed to become such a pain in the neck. Getting back up and transforming into a new form, Imu decides to fix that for good.

Seeing Imu in his new form, Gaban flat-out tells Luffy to grab his crew and escape Elbaph. Naturally, Luffy refuses to run, saying that he can still fight as he tries to force his body to heal. Hajrudin saves them from the next attack by yeeting Imu into the trunk of the Adam Tree, but protecting them comes at the cost of taking Imu’s next Omen attack. Again, Hajrudin says they need to run and fight another day, but the Giant says Elbaph won’t bend to Imu! And even if he dies, the nation will still have Loki.

At that moment, Loki comes barreling in, praising his older brother for what he said before telling him to get ready. Luffy finally manages to heal enough to fight, and together, the three hit Imu with a combined attack, Three Generals: Gokkoku Sovereignty!

Review

I knew that this fight wasn’t over yet! I know that a lot of fans are saying that Luffy is outgunned and that he can’t hope to win against Imu right now. They’re probably right. Luffy isn’t at the demon king’s level yet. However, I feel like the naysayers are ignoring three important details.

Firstly, Luffy doesn’t have to beat Imu. Based on the dialogue that’s been dropped, there is a set time limit for how long the demon can be outside of Mariejois before bad things happen. It’s likely that the more power he uses, the faster he’ll reach that limit. So the Giants and Straw Hats don’t need to beat Imu; they just have to run down the clock.

Secondly, this is Luffy and the Giants of Elbaph we’re talking about. I’ve already said how we’ve seen Luffy get pounded into the ground more times than I can count, and that hasn’t stopped him. Getting stabbed by Imu wasn’t going to keep him down forever. And while him suddenly getting back on his feet seems crazy for him, that’s the whole point. In Gear Five, he’s able to defy all logic and reason. If he says that he’ll heal from eating all that food, then he’s going to heal!

Lastly, up to this point, everyone has been fighting Imu one-on-one. That hasn’t panned out! But if Luffy and Loki, the two strongest people on Elbaph right now, fight him together, then they might have a chance. At the very least, I don’t think Imu is going to get out of fighting Nika and Nidhogg without a black eye. And having Harjudin just helps.

I don’t care what everyone is saying. I still think that Imu is going to lose. After everything that we’ve gone through on Elbaph, I refuse to believe that Oda will let things end in defeat! Elbaph must stand for the sake of the world!

Looking for Writers for the D&A Anime Blog

Hello, everyone, it’s me, RJ Writing Ink, with a special blog post for today. Now, I’ve been writing on my own blog for several years now, but in that time, I’ve also started to write for other blogs. I write opinion pieces and do reviews for shows and movies for them. It serves as a good way to establish myself as a reliable freelance writer. However, right now, one of the blog’s that I write for, D&A Anime Blog, is in trouble, and they need help.

D&A Anime Blog is the brainchild of two cool guys named Donte and Aaron. Conceived of in December 2015 and debuting in January 2016, the blog served as a medium for them to share cosplay photo’s with audiences around the world, as well as cover anime conventions and fandom in general. Since then, though, the blog’s grown, with them forging connections with some of the big anime distributors in North America, like Viz Media, Aniplex, Sentai Filmworks, and Crunchyroll.

As a side note, they also recently launched their own merchandise shop, which I have linked here. 

So, the D&A Anime Blog has something good going, so what could be the problem? The answer is simple: they need more writers.

D&A Anime Needs Writers

About a year or two ago, they first put out a call for people to help contribute to their blog, and I was one of the people who answered. Since then, I’ve been writing reviews and other pieces for them on things ranging from reviews of shows like Chainsaw Man and Demon Slayer to stuff about One Piece to even an interview with one of my favorite fanfic writers. As I’ve been busy writing for them, though, they have fallen on some hard times. I can’t fully explain what’s happening, but they’ve got a lot of stuff going on in their personal lives that’s been keeping them from writing. At the time I’m posting this, I’m the primary reason that the blog remains active every week by posting stuff. 

The fact of the matter is, D&A Anime Blog is suffering from a severe shortage of writers, and they do not want to be dealing with this. And I hate seeing something that these people put so much heart and energy into being neglected like this, but there’s only so much that I can do. And then it hit me: several of the people who follow my blog also write for their own blogs.

And that brings me to the point of this post: I am reaching out to you, my followers, asking for your help in making D&A Anime Blog the success that it has the potential to meet. If you’re a writer with your own anime blog, or if you just want to share your thoughts and feelings about anime, then I urge you to contact the D&A Anime Blog. By helping them, you could end up being a part of something great. And if they become successful enough, they may be able to do this full-time and pay people to write for them! But they can’t do it with the way things are right now. So please, if you’re a writer and love anime, or you know someone with expreience writing and reviewing anime, then help them out.

Amphibia S3 Episode 3A/3B Review

All the way back in season one, we learned that Anne’s parents owned a successful Thai Restaurant, which is what gave her her culinary skills. Thus, when the series shifted focus to Earth, I was excited to see what it was like. Now that we have, it did not disappoint; it had Wayne Knight in it! Nor did the follow-up segment disappoint, as it felt relatable, given how I’m a cat owner.

Oh, and there were a few references to Gravity Falls and the early days of Amphibia in the Wayne Knight segment.

Thai Food

When you love something, you want to see it flourish or be a part of it. In this case, this episode sees Sprig desperately wants to be an official part of the Boonchuy family, rather than a guest at their home. To that end, he desperately tries to make himself useful to Anne and Mrs. Boonchuy at their restaruant, Thai Go. However, his attempts to be helpful do…more harm than good.

See, the Boonchuy’s best customer Ned, played by Wayne Knight, loves their food. So much so, he bought a food truck and wants to share their food throughout LA. However, Mrs. Boonchuy refuses to give him their recipes, and he can’t move his truck (the brakes don’t work), so it’s hurting the Boonchuys. So, Sprig steals the truck and almost gets Anne and himself killed.

I understand where Sprig’s coming from. He doesn’t remember his birth parents, and he’s always wanted a bigger family. So, like Anne’s become his adopted older sister, he wants her parents to fill the void. However, he tries too hard to help them! Lucky for him, Mrs. Boonchuy does realize her error.

In addition, Ned realizes that what he’s doing out of misguided loved is cultural appropriation, AKA stealing. Not the first time Wayne Knight’s played someone whose stolen, though. Anne’s Mom does let him deliver food for them, though, so everyone’s happy.

Adventures in Catsitting

After realizing they’ve been sitting around the house doing nothing for too long, Hop Pop worries that his family’s becoming freeloaders. Thus, he’s desperate to pull their weight around the house. With Anne busy with a dentist appointment, the Plantar’s offer to take Domino to the vet.

Those poor, poor frogs.

As a cat owner myself, I know for a fact that a lot of cats hate going to the vet. It also doesn’t help that the Plantar’s are still adjusting to Earth. Or that Domino managed to escape when they’re not looking. Yet Hop Pop refuses to budge out of pride and insecurity. Thankfully, Sprig calls Mr. Boonchuy for them, after which he reassures Hop Pop that he’s got nothing to prove to them. He’s already done more than enough by taking their daughter in. So, the episode ends on a happy note for all.

The Importance of the Little Episodes

When it comes to serialized shows like Amphibia, Gravity Falls, and The Owl House, episodes like this can drive some fans up the walls. They want to see the show focus more on the overarching story. However, I’ve come to realize that these smaller stories are more important than meets the eye. They help flesh out the world of the show and show the growth of the characters. Without them, sudden changes in character would be too jarring. And considering how this is the show’s final season, I think it’s earned the right to do stuff like this.

What I’m trying to say is, I like these smaller episodes of the show. And once it’s available to stream, it’s likely they’ll be what I rewatch the most.

Also, Wayne Knight was great as Ned. I loved him in Toy Story 2.

I Give “Thai Feud” a 4/5 and “Adventures in Catsitting” a 4.5/5

Stray Observations

• As of “Adventures in Catsitting”, one week has passed since the Plantar’s moved into the Boonchuy’s house.
• The Plantar’s had several close calls this week. They are going to attract attention before long!
• Anne developed five cavities in her time in Amphibia due to lack of proper dental hygiene.
• Sprig is the Frog God now!

• Ned was wearing a shirt saying “Romance Academy 7”, that creepy game that Soos played in “Soos and the Real Girl” in Gravity Falls.

• The song Ned’s listening to was the original intro to Amphibia. Despite being good, Matt scrapped it due to not fitting the show’s tone.
• The gaming references continue, this time to Sonic and Legend of Zelda. Along with some sci-fi references.

• Polly and Hop Pop have assimilated to Earth’s culture quite well.
