Great Shogun of Wano! His Name is Momonosuke Kozuki!
One Piece Chapter 1051 Review/Recap
This is the moment that we’ve been waiting for since learned the truth about Momonosuke in the Zou Arc. All the hard work, training, and sacrifice had led up to this moment. The Beast Pirates have Fallen, Orochi’s possibly dead, and Kaido and Big Mom are trapped in a pool of magma. All of Wano gathers to hear that their nightmare is over. Now begins the dawn of the age of the Great Shogun, Momonosuke Kozuki!

Recap

In the Flower Capital, the citizens are stunned by the appearance of the Red Scabbards alongside “Komurasaki” and Kyoshiro, everyone assuming the former were all dead. Despite thinking that they all might be dead, they soon realize that this is really happening, and start broadcasting it across the entire country. Soon, everyone in Wano listens as history is made.

Meanwhile, Yamato introduces herself to the rest of the Straw Hats, saying that she’ll be joining them from here on out. The reactions are mixed, but so long as Luffy agrees, they have no objections. As for the Beast Pirates and Otama’s followers, they stay behind, either under threat or because of loyalty to Otama, who thinks about all the hardship she had to endure until now.

At the Flower Capital, Momonosuke makes a grand speech, thanking the citizens of Wano for enduring hell for the last twenty years since his father’s death. He vows to rebuild the land and undo what Kaido and Orochi did, thanking the Alliance for giving them this chance. After some encouragement, Momo then proclaims his name means “Peerless One,” and he will live up to it. This moment shall be known as the start of the reign of one of Wano’s greatest leaders, the Great Shogun, Momonosuke Kozuki!

Review
Momnosuke, I am so proud of you. I’m so proud of everyone in the Alliance for all that they’ve accomplished. They did the impossible and took down not one, but two Yonko. They set Wano free! Momosuke reunited with his sister, and will become the Great Shogun and restorer of Wano he was meant to be!
There’s still a lot of work to be done, though. The remaining Beast Pirates must be either punished or exiled, the factories torn down, and food given to the people. Also, they have to get rid of the Navy Fleet waiting to annex the country.
This moment solidifies the Wano Arc as the biggest game-changer since the events at Marineford. News of Kaido and Big Mom’s defeat will throw the world into chaos. Luffy will likely get much of the credit and be officially considered a Yonko, which he is in terms of power. The bounties of every pirate involved will skyrocket to new heights, and Luffy won’t know what to do next. As for Yamato, given how she was a friend of Ace, Luffy might let her join.
For now, though, there’s only one thing left to do: party. Every arc usually ends with the Straw Hats throwing a massive party, and given how this is their biggest win yet, all of Wano will be there. I cannot wait to see it!
This was a very emotional chapter, but one worth the wait. Oda, you’ve done it once again. Long live the Great Shogun, Momonosuke Kozuki!

Joy Boy is About to Have His Second Coming!
One Piece Chapter 1043 Review/Recap
Screw CP0. Just when the fight between Luffy and Kaido was reaching the climax, CP0 butts in and distracts Luffy long enough for Kaido to land a decisive blow. No one is happy about this outcome. Even Kaido got flashbacks to how he unfairly won against Oden two decades ago. As a result, it looks like the only chance of defeating Kaido has gone out the window! Or has it? This arc has made repeated references to the person known as Joy Boy. That somehow, the world was waiting for him to come. And now, we might be on the verge of seeing his second coming.

Recap

Having been dealt a knock-out blow by Kaido thanks to the CP0 Agent, Kaido is beyond pissed off, and he makes it known by pummeling the meddler into the ground (thank you!) Inside the dome, chaos rages as the fire continues to spread out of control. Things only get worse when Kaido barges in and declares Luffy to be dead. Again.

Everyone’s reactions to this news are mixed. Many in the Alliance begin to lose heart while the remaining Beast Pirates get a second wind. Nami openly calls Kaido a liar, while Law and Kid decide to fight to the end rather than surrender to Kaido. Outside Onigashima, Momonosuke seriously considers surrendering. However, Yamato chastises him for wanting to throw away everything his allies have fought for. As far as Yamato’s concerned, it would be better to die fighting than to suffer a slow death as Kaido’s slaves. Just then, though, Zunesha speaks to Momo, saying he can hear it. The drums of liberation begin to beat for the first time in 800 years. As Zunesha proclaims the return of Joy Boy, we see a grin appear on Luffy’s face as some sort of transformation begins to occur.
Review

Okay, I was not expecting for Luffy to lose yet again to Kaido. Once again, though, Kaido fails to make sure that Luffy is dead, giving him the chance to make the comeback we all know will happen. It’s Luffy, people! Unless you can show me his severed head, then I won’t believe that he’s dead for a second.
Secondly, there’s the whole thing about Joy Boy. We first heard him mentioned back in the Fishman Island Arc, but he’s been brought up several times in the Wano Arc. We know that he lived during the Void Century, and that he left something at Laugh Tale that has to do with the One Piece. Furthermore, it seems like the world’s expecting him to return one day. The fact that Zunesha calls Luffy’s heartbeats the call for the return of Joy Boy means that Luffy is connected to the figure somehow. Yet we still know next to nothing about Joy Boy and what it means. One thing’s for certain, though: Oda’s got something planned. Eichiro Oda always does things for a reason, and it looks like Luffy is about to ascend to some new level of power.
Man, I love One Piece so much. Too bad we have to wait two weeks for the next chapter.
I Give “Let’s Die Together” a 4/5

Komurasaki Relishes in Orochi’s Terror at Last!
One Piece Chapter 1041 Review/Recap
You know the old saying “revenge is a dish best served cold?” There’s just something so satisfying seeing the look on the face of those who wronged you as they realize they’re about to get what’s coming to them. Hiyori Kozuki, AKA Komurasaki, has waited twenty years to take revenge on Orochi for what he did to her family. Now, after somehow showing up on Onigashima, Komurasaki has her moment. Komurasaki shall have her revenge. But will it end up costing her her life?

Recap

Picking up from where the last chapter left off, Momonosuke tells Yamato what he learned from his father’s journal. However, he doesn’t know the full story, as Oden ripped out the pages on Laugh Tale. Thanks to that, he’s no longer sure about whether opening up Wano will be the right choice. Elsewhere, the Straw Hats and Alliance members struggle to get away from the fire and crumbling island. Most of them are so spent, they couldn’t fight back even if they wanted to.

Meanwhile, in the treasury, Orochi starts losing patience as Komurasaki continues to play her music. He’s so distracted that he doesn’t notice the ceiling cave in until its too late. Now pinned, Komurasaki reveals three things. Firstly, she pinned him with a Seastone Nail so he can’t use his powers. Secondly, Komurasaki explains that the tune she’s playing, Orochi’s favorite tune, is “Moon Princess.” Lastly, that it was the favorite tune of her father, Oden Kozuki.

Atop the skull dome, Luffy and Kaido’s battle continues as the latter realizes that Big Mom’s been beaten. He then relapses into his drunk state as he remembers how he first met Big Mom in the Rock Pirates. Luffy, though, doesn’t care in the slightest, and gives Kaido the beatdown he deserves. No matter what happens, he’s going to kick Kaido out of Wano.
Review
Once again, there’s a lot of things happening at once in this chapter, and I will try to give my thoughts about them as best as I can.
Firstly, I immensely enjoyed the moment when Komurasaki revealed to Orochi that she was Oden’s daughter. The look of pure terror on his face almost makes all the pain he’s caused worth it. Key word almost. The fact that Komurasaki, or rather Hiyori, was able to disable Orochi’s powers makes it all the more enjoyable to watch. Now, all she needs to do is keep him there until the fight’s over, and he’ll face justice at Momonosuke’s hands.
Speaking of Momonosuke, he’s still wracked by his insecurities regarding his Dad’s legacy. He shouldn’t worry so much, though. Oden always expected Momonosuke to surpass him and be the leader that Wano needs. And Wano needs to be opened to the world, on its own terms. Otherwise, everything that’s happened to the Alliance will be for nothing.

As for the rest of the Alliance, they all seem to be okay, with even Zoro being saved by Franky. However, they can’t fight anymore. Which is bad, because now the Gorosei wants CP0 to off Luffy. If they intervene, then Luffy might lose. And right now, he can’t afford to lose. Kaido’s getting close to being beaten; all Luffy needs is one last push to take him down.

So, basically, this chapter was another chaotically fun and exciting chapter of One Piece. Just what I’d expect from the likes of Eichiro Oda.
