Muller’s More of a Quack Than I Thought
Edens Zero Chapter 242 Review/Recap
When I think that my disrespect for the menace that is Muller can’t get any lower, the bar is lowered yet again. We’ve known for a long time that Muller is an absolute quack that probably isn’t even a real Doctor. After this week’s chapter, though, he all but confirms it to us. He thinks that he can outsmart the Crew of Edens and use one of them to travel through time. Thankfully, we know that this method is likely doomed to failure.

Recap
With the Empire’s fleet now under the command of Muller, it looks like Shura and Shiki’s path to The Temple is blocked. However, what no one counted on was the fact that the Crew of Edens has years of combat experience, including in the cockpit.

The members of the Crew of Edens take flight in their fighters and use their abilities to the fullest extent possible. What follows could be described as seeing the Star Fox Squadron from the titular franchise going to work. Each of them proceeds to cut through the enemy like they’re nothing! The witch even uses her powers and the Edens Zero’s main cannon to annihilate an entire swath of capital ships!
Meanwhile, Muller’s watching all this and is seething with rage at Shura returning so soon. However, he’s also been listening in on the other’s conversations and overheard Hermit mention “the last world.” Realizing this means they came from another universe, Muller’s more determined to go through with his plan to travel through time. In addition, he also realizes that Rebecca has her mother’s time travel Ether, which gives him an idea. Disguising his voice as Shiki’s, he tells Rebecca to meet him at the coordinates he’s sending her, with Rebecca complying.

Review
So, was that ending supposed to make me feel worried about Rebecca’s safety? Because I’m not, and neither should any of the readers.
Firstly, Rebecca’s not dumb. There’s a good chance either she, Hermit, or Weisz will realize something’s wrong by virtue of how “Shiki” sounded. They know their friends enough to recognize an imposter.
Secondly, even if Muller’s trap works, he’ll still fail. Rebecca can’t use her Ether Gear to time travel anymore; Rebecca’s Mother confirmed this would happen once they entered Universe Zero. There’s a chance her Ether still has that innate ability, but I doubt it.

Muller might think itself to be brilliant, but it’s actually not. The Muller is a quack doctor.
Quacks aside, I liked this chapter. It reminds me of old rail shooter games like Star Fox, of which I’m a fan of. I also appreciated how it’s acknowledged that Homura’s full skill won’t be apparent until she gets her mecha. That, and how Valkyrie points out that Rebecca getting good as a pilot from video games doesn’t make sense. Here’s hoping that she doesn’t fall for Muller’s obvious trap.

The Muller Must Be Crazy
Edens Zero Chapter 240 Review/Recap
Can I just say this: I hate the Muller. I still refuse to call Dr. Muller as a person, my hatred remains so great. And even though we’ve had far worse enemies, he remains near the top of my hate list for Edens Zero. He traumatized Hermit, tortured Jinn and Kleene, and tried to blow up Foresta. Now, in Universe Zero, we find out that it not only took over Xenolith’s body, but destroyed Foresta. Now it’s working directly for ONE Void and duped Shura into picking a fight with Oasis.
The sooner we’re rid of Muller, the better off everyone will be!
Recap

Picking up where we left off, Xenolith explains that he’s currently sharing MiiMii’s body due to Muller’s actions. Like in the previous timeline, the machines on Foresta went beserk thanks to a virus infecting them. Unlike before, though, it was Muller this time who was responsible. When Xenolith confronted the mad scientist, he started rambling about how it was working for Void who was recruiting machines for Oracion Seis Galactica. To that end, Muller unleashed the virus to find a machine capable of withstanding the virus…and Xenolith just waltzed right in. Using an EMP to disable his Ether Gear, the Muller steals the machine’s powers, leaves Xenolith for dead, and uses them to create a new Xenolith and destroy Foresta. As a result, the real Xenolith had to take refuge in MiiMii’s body as Aruna found them.
After hearing everything, Shura and the Ocean’s Six realized they were duped, and Shura’s angry over it. While he refuses to be friends with Shiki (yet), he does end up leaving Oasis and the others in peace as he returns to The Temple. The others debate on whether or not they should get involved, but Shiki doesn’t want to abandon Xenolith like this. Back at The Temple, though, Void contacts “Xenolith” for it’s first job. Except “Xenolith” is now just calling itself Muller, having created a new, cyborg body for itself.

Review
Oh, crud. The Muller on its own was bad enough, but now? Now it’s crazier than ever before. Did you hear how Muller started rambling all that crazy stuff when it met Xenolith? Muller’s always been crazy, but it’s worse than ever. Yet, there may be a little bit of clarity in his ramblings, mainly the part about the ones and zeros. In binary language, ones and zeros make up programming. Maybe it has to do with the naming of the Edens Zero and Edens One? Or it could be a coincidence.

At the very least, it’s good to see that Shura in Universe Zero is more reasonable than he was in previous timelines. Plus, it was funny to see him get angry over the fact that the Muller was hired to work for him. Who hired that nutjob, anyway? It was also funny to see Ijuna call him out for not vetting his human resources properly. She really has him wrapped around her finger. They say behind every great man, there is a great woman, though.
At any rate, with Muller currently at The Temple, it looks like Shiki and the Crew of Edens might not have a choice about intervening. That’s fine by me; I want to rid the Universe of the Muller for good.

Hermit Shows Us What’s Important to Her
Edens Zero Chapter 128 Review/Recap
Few things are as satisfying in life as seeing some scumbag in a work of fiction get what’s coming to them. And I was in ecstasy when I saw how the last chapter of Edens Zero ended with Muller getting it’s just desserts. But the karma didn’t stop there. As we see in this week’s chapter, Hermit puts Muller in its place and reaffirms what’s important to her.

Recap
Thanks to Muller’s self-destruct sequence, Foresta is close to becoming space dust. In addition, a bunch of drones keep chasing after Shiki and the others. Fortunately, the heroes manage to take care of the machines in an incredibly badass action-sequence.

On board the station, Hermit wastes no time in getting to work on removing the virus. However, she’s then met by a pitiful sight: what remains of Muller, begging for Hermit to save it. Muller spouts nonsense about seeing the error of its ways and saying whatever it has to to survive. Thankfully, no one buys the monster’s BS, and after using Muller for a retinal scan, Hermit kicks her former tormentor to the curb.
Thanks to Muller, she now understands what’s truly important to her in life: her real friends. And with that, Ziggy’s virus is erased, the self-destruct sequence is stopped, and Foresta’s saved. All that’s left now is for humans and machines to rebuild and reconcile.

Review
It’s over. The madness and hate that Ziggy unleashed on Foresta is finally over. But it came at a great cost. Thanks to Ziggy, so many humans and machines lost their lives. That’s not something that people will be willing to forgive or forget so easily. I’m not even sure if the machines will be able to forgive themselves for what they did!

I know that it’s going to sound totally cheesy, but the only solution to this kind of hatred is love and forgiveness. The humans will have to learn to forgive the machines for what they were forced to do. But I have hope that they will.
In the meantime, I’m glad to see Hermit reaffirm what’s important to her, and conquer her fear of Muller. And to top it off, Sister managed to save Kleene! She erased the memory of the torture that Muller inflicted on her brother. While I don’t approve of mind-wiping to heal emotional scars, I can’t think of any better solutions. It’s for the best, really.

It looks like the Foresta Arc’s finally wrapping up. Next week, we deal with the aftermath and the consequences of everybody’s actions. What’s important, though, is that Shiki has to stop his Grandpa before he causes an interstellar war between man and machine. Bring it on.
