The Muller Must Be Crazy

Edens Zero Chapter 240 Review/Recap

Can I just say this: I hate the Muller. I still refuse to call Dr. Muller as a person, my hatred remains so great. And even though we’ve had far worse enemies, he remains near the top of my hate list for Edens Zero. He traumatized Hermit, tortured Jinn and Kleene, and tried to blow up Foresta. Now, in Universe Zero, we find out that it not only took over Xenolith’s body, but destroyed Foresta. Now it’s working directly for ONE Void and duped Shura into picking a fight with Oasis.

The sooner we’re rid of Muller, the better off everyone will be!

Recap

Edens Zero Chapter 240-Muller is Crazier In Every Timeline
Source-Kodansha Comics, Mangasee

Picking up where we left off, Xenolith explains that he’s currently sharing MiiMii’s body due to Muller’s actions. Like in the previous timeline, the machines on Foresta went beserk thanks to a virus infecting them. Unlike before, though, it was Muller this time who was responsible. When Xenolith confronted the mad scientist, he started rambling about how it was working for Void who was recruiting machines for Oracion Seis Galactica. To that end, Muller unleashed the virus to find a machine capable of withstanding the virus…and Xenolith just waltzed right in. Using an EMP to disable his Ether Gear, the Muller steals the machine’s powers, leaves Xenolith for dead, and uses them to create a new Xenolith and destroy Foresta. As a result, the real Xenolith had to take refuge in MiiMii’s body as Aruna found them.

After hearing everything, Shura and the Ocean’s Six realized they were duped, and Shura’s angry over it. While he refuses to be friends with Shiki (yet), he does end up leaving Oasis and the others in peace as he returns to The Temple. The others debate on whether or not they should get involved, but Shiki doesn’t want to abandon Xenolith like this. Back at The Temple, though, Void contacts “Xenolith” for it’s first job. Except “Xenolith” is now just calling itself Muller, having created a new, cyborg body for itself.

Review

Oh, crud. The Muller on its own was bad enough, but now? Now it’s crazier than ever before. Did you hear how Muller started rambling all that crazy stuff when it met Xenolith? Muller’s always been crazy, but it’s worse than ever. Yet, there may be a little bit of clarity in his ramblings, mainly the part about the ones and zeros. In binary language, ones and zeros make up programming. Maybe it has to do with the naming of the Edens Zero and Edens One? Or it could be a coincidence.

Edens Zero Chapter 240-Shura is Not Happy about Muller
Source-Kodansha Comics, Mangasee

At the very least, it’s good to see that Shura in Universe Zero is more reasonable than he was in previous timelines. Plus, it was funny to see him get angry over the fact that the Muller was hired to work for him. Who hired that nutjob, anyway? It was also funny to see Ijuna call him out for not vetting his human resources properly. She really has him wrapped around her finger. They say behind every great man, there is a great woman, though.

At any rate, with Muller currently at The Temple, it looks like Shiki and the Crew of Edens might not have a choice about intervening. That’s fine by me; I want to rid the Universe of the Muller for good.

I Knew It! The Heroes Got Nerfed!

Edens Zero Chapter 227 Review/Recap

Nerfing, or getting nerfed, is when something’s made weaker or worse than before. It’s a common term in video games used to describe a character or item that developers weakened because it broke the game. However, I feel it can apply to characters and things outside of video games with the proper context. My worst fears are confirmed in this case: the Crew of Edens got nerfed!

Recap

Shiki and Pino are surprised that Nero, not Laguna, is the water member of Joe’s Element 4. Despite this, Shiki refuses to back down against Nero. As the two begin to clash, Pino notes that Nero and Shiki are close to evenly matched. However, she realizes that, while he still has all his power from before coming to Universe 0, Shiki’s body can’t catch up, resulting in a severe imbalance. In other words, Shiki got nerfed!

Meanwhile, outside of Belial Gore, Pino’s fears about the others are coming true. Rebecca and Weisz have also gotten nerfed. Weisz can’t use his Arsenal suit to his full potential without Hermit, so Witch has to go and retrieve her from Digitalis. In addition, while Rebecca does have access to her Ether Gear (minus the time powers), her body can’t use it to its fullest extent. As a result, both of them are left on the ropes against Daichi and Fie.

As for Shiki, he learns just how much has changed in Universe 0. Not only did Nero retire and pass on his title as Emperor to Shura, but in this Universe, Laguna’s the leader of Oasis!

Review

knew that this was going to end up happening! When I saw Shiki accidentally warp into the bathhouse, I had a feeling that his powers got nerfed in some way. I was right: since their bodies have yet to adjust to the power they had post-time skip, the Crew of Edens is weaker than before. Now they have to fight the Element 4 under-leveled. Unless they do something soon, this could be a repeat of…the first time.

As far as the revelation about Laguna in Universe 0, I’m not surprised. Being the leader of Oasis likely means that many of his comrades are alive and well, which is what he wanted the most. However, the trade-off is that now Shura’s in charge of the Aoi Empire, and this means that the heroes will have to go to the Aoi Cosmos and deal with Shura all over again to get Laguna back. The silver lining is that we might be seeing Hermit sooner than we thought.

At this point, it’s safe to say that Edens Zero is in uncharted territory. Expect things to appear drastically different from the story we knew, making this less surprising. Hopefully, Sister can convince Jinn and Kleene to defect again, making things easier for the heroes. That, and they can get themselves un-nerfed!

This Is Why You Never Underestimate the Elderly!

Edens Zero Chapter 163 Review/Recap

You know how they say that you should respect your elders? There’s a lot of truth to that saying. You should never underestimate the elderly, especially when they’re superpowered and capable of destroying entire planets! In this case, Shura learns a hard lesson: if he’s gonna do one over on his old man, make sure you’ve covered all your bases! This week, Shura’s master plan falls apart in front of him. As for Nero, he learns a lesson: don’t underestimate plot armor!

Edens Zero Chapter 163-Shiki Gets a Pounding
Source-MangaSee, Kodansha Comics

Having entered his own Overdrive, Shura turns the tables back on Shiki. Caught off-guard, Shiki’s overpowered long enough for him to get to his true target: the All-Link System. Rebecca, Happy, and Pino managed to make it there on their own. However, Shura uses his Ether Gear to subdue them, and brutally kill the guards for the heck of it. Thus, the heroes are powerless to stop as he prepares to activate the All-Link!

That’s when he gets a call from the Temple, courtesy of his Father, who holds the head of a defeated Ziggy in his hands.

Edens Zero Chapter 163-Nero Beat Ziggy?!?!
Source-MangaSee, Kodansha Comics

Nero reveals his own Ether Gear, Wormhole, which lets him teleport anything he wants. In this case, he teleported all the weapons to Nero Planet 66. If the All-Link goes off, he’ll die. Before Shura can do anything, though, Shiki storms in for the next round. Nero’s so surprised by this that he doesn’t even notice that Ziggy’s still alive, and ready for more.

Review

When I saw the spoilers for this chapter, and how it looked like Ziggy was dead, I knew that there was no way that would be true. Ziggy’s the main villain; there’s no way he’d go down so easily! I don’t know how he’s alive despite his head being severed, but I’m betting it’s due to the fact that he’s a machine. Or perhaps his AI doesn’t need a host body to function at this point. Either way, it looks like Nero’s gambit may have been for naught.

As for Nero, I didn’t expect him to have portal generation for his Ether Gear. On the surface, that may not seem very powerful. However, when used by a suitably creative mind, those portals can be one of the deadliest powers you can fight in a work of fiction. After all, thanks to them, Shura’s plans for conquest are now dashed.

Even if the heroes destroy the All-Link System, though, if Ziggy wins, he’ll seize control of the Aoi Cosmos. Thus, even if the heroes win the battle, they could lose the war. Having not expected this turn of events, though, I can’t wait to see what comes next. This should be fun.
